In follow upinterviews and focus groups, students also chose to discuss their experiences in study groups(83%) or lab groups (82%) but also commented frequently on their participation in professionalsocieties. colonialbackdrop.This brief overview of the literature illustrates the potential limitations of traditional approachesto research ethics when applied to qualitative research, a challenge that is crucially important forthe growing discourse around the use of interpretive methods in engineering education. Theanalysis of prior work in the areas of feminist and de-colonizing methodologies points to theinherent link between considering ethics as an integral part of research and the holistic quality ofresearch findings. A common term in this literature is “constructive alignment”10 which describesthe concept that the curriculum is designed so that the learning and assessment are aligned. Hispanic population intheir native Spanish language. This is especially relevant if not profound in consideration of theHispanic immigrant populations in the U.S. from Central and South America who principallywork in the construction and service industries in America. In the fall of 2010, an email inquirywas sent to all construction management students at Pittsburg State University (PSU) todetermine student interest in a Spanish for Construction course. The inquiry produced a majorityof positive responses from students and resulted in the development of a Spanish forConstruction course offered for the first time in the spring of 2010 in the College of Technologyat PSU. The course has been offered every semester since its inception and has moved
