the enclosure. Both the tensile test andhardness measurement showed positive correlation between controlled temperature andmechanical properties of the printed poly-lactic acid. Comparing samples printed with and withouttemperature control, the latter allowed for the optimization of tensile strength and hardness.Specimens that were printed in a controlled temperature range of 35-37°C showed the largestimprovement in both tensile strengths and hardness as compared to specimens printed withouttemperature control, or printed at lower or higher controlled temperatures. Exit interviews withstudents showed a deepening of interest in engineering as a career, a significant increase inprofessional confidence, and strong interest in pursuing graduate

, attitudes, and practices in the workplacecompare to what learning sciences experts describe in similar learning environments 2,3. Subjects(N=85) were drawn from a pool of engineering domain knowledge experts in the aerospaceindustry who are either currently teaching or preparing to teach incumbent mid-career engineers,new hires and technicians. Results show shifts in participant attitudes related to each of the fourcomponents in varying capacity. In particular, findings indicate that SMEs were more apt afterattending a day and a half in this course, to view learning in a more learner-centered way by (i)having students work in small groups, and (ii) by making visible preconceptions before teachingnew information. UniversityAbstract:Although there is evidence that most women with long-term careers in STEM will face someform of sexism, there is little research on how to handle such behaviors. Some situations requireintervention by those with authority, some can be confronted directly by individuals, and stillothers should be ignored. To better understand how students and faculty should respond to sexistcomments made by one student to another, we interviewed engineering students, professionals,and faculty, asking them to respond to two different real-life scenarios containing sexistcomments.We found that three-fourths of professionals and over one-third of students had experiencedinappropriate behaviors that could be labeled as sexist.
