We used Muis et al.’s [12] definitions and range ofacceptable beliefs (See Table 1) to guide our data analysis. We rated the cognitive validity scorefor the three sections first and then summed the scores to obtain a global validity score for eachitem. Based on the coding principles and criteria, two trained raters independently rated eachstudent’s responses of the items in terms of all three aspects of cognitive validity.
