The proposed systems for upgrading facilitiesinclude lighting and integrated window treatments/controls, and the re-design of an energyefficiency program that responds to the unique needs of the building and climate. Students areexpected to provide detailed technical solutions in the proposal by examining the past year utilityexpenses, planning the renovation design, estimating new system costs, and demonstratingenergy efficiency improvements. In addition, students are required to seek funding sources, suchas state grants and tax benefits.The criteria of the competition include not only technical factors but also broader impacts to thecommunity.
