educational enterprise. To keep engineering courses relevant, faculty often bring in current topics to their undergraduateclasses. In the ideal world (or department), faculty engaged in research will teach undergraduatecourses in the same discipline area. Bringing in research work performed by undergraduatestudents into undergraduate courses has the important benefit that the coursework is still fresh inthe undergraduate student's mind. The key benefit a faculty member has when integratingresearch results from undergraduate students is by observing how the undergraduate researchstudents learn the necessary research material based on the foundation concepts originally usedin the classroom. From these observations, the faculty mentor can determine the

cannot be anonymous, I occasionally distributed questionnaires in relation topedagogical tools that were used in class and asked for anonymous student feedback. Some ofthe questions asked if the students recommended repetition of an assignment or activity in thefuture. For example, 73% of students recommended repeating the Email homework and theportfolio process. A question given on how much students learned in the classroom, as opposedto learning later through homework and self study, indicated that they learn about 50% of thematerial in the class.I have collected feedback from students in different forms over the recent years. I would be gladto share students' feedback with a researcher in the area of engineering education. A samplefeedback of

Watson et al.16 states that the pipeline metaphor may not be the most effective way toexamine the dilemma of underrepresented minority representation in science and engineering. The Inuguq-threshold model uses an electrical transmission line model to illustrate techniques todiversify the engineering workforce. Watson et al. surmise that current research focuses onchanging the learner and increasing the mass through the pipeline as opposed to changing thepipeline. In order to do this, the engineering education community must recognize the differentlevels of
