mission. In order to achieve the goal the University has to attractthe best candidates across the country. The difficulty is that approximately 90% of thehigh-school graduates in Russia are already admitted to established universities4.Therefore, in order to populate the new University we need to attract applicants fromother professions. For example, one should be able to convince students applying for adegree in economics, physics or mathematics to apply for an IT specialty since therequirements are very similar. Another alternative could be to reach out to the studentsinterested in linguistics, logic or art and encourage them to pursue a career in IT.However, in this paper we propose yet another potential source for future IT specialists

designproject offered at Drexel University. Renewable Energy science and technology stimulatesdiscoveries and developments that promise to sustain a wave of new technological and economicinnovations throughout the world. It is likely that the use of renewable energy will become anincreasing national priority that will affect the next generation of college students. The seniordesign project engages students in their studies on the implementation of an innovative methodfor measuring the efficiency of solar cells using E-Quality and image processing. There is a needfor students to learn how to provide a consistent quality control method for evaluating thecharacteristics of solar cells in manufacturing. Many methods used so far are contact methodsthat may

The goal for the CLO is to createan agile, fast and effective method to instruct individuals with the latest skills. These learningmethods could incorporate videos, photos, job aids, and other agile communication methods. The CLO will need to understand talent management when recruiting new talent [14].The CLO is the lead for establishing programs to help engineers improve skills by setting upretraining programs. The CLO could consider implementing e-learning material, as engineersand computer scientists could easily review this information at their desk or on their portabledevices. Abstract Laboratory safety poses inherent legal and ethical responsibilities that all engineeringeducation programs in the United States (U.S.) must address. However, developing safer habitsin the creation and testing of engineering design solutions starts long before students enter post-secondary engineering education programs. P-12 engineering education programs are a criticalpartner to develop greater safety awareness and safer habits among prospective engineers andour future workforce. This research utilized data from a national safety study involving 718 P-12engineering educators from 42 U.S. states, specifically focusing on the subsample of 117teachers from middle Atlantic (mid-Atlantic) states. Analyses found mid-Atlantic P

Through a surveyon 138 respondents in the New York metropolitan area this paper investigated the impact ofinformation disclosure sensitivity on the adoption of mobile payments technology as well asidentifies the need for a change in the information dissemination of the benefits of mobilepayments technology by the mobile payments service providers. The results of the survey show arelatively high sensitivity to Personally Identifiable Information disclosure (PII) acrosssubcategories of the survey respondents, and a low level of mobile payments adoption, especiallywith regard to Near Field Communication (NFC) payment technology. This finding is despite therecent proliferation of NFC capable devices by dominant mobile

Contextualized Framework[3], which, in its original conception, contextualizes the evaluation of learning outcomes withinthe interaction between course characteristics and learner characteristics present within alearning experience. The evaluation framework consists of six dimensions, including: 1) learnersatisfaction, 2) learning objectives and outcomes, 3) knowledge application and usage, 4) coursepedagogy, 5) broader learning impact, and 6) administration and program management. Thisframework was adapted from recent applications of the Contextualized Framework to large-sizeonline graduate-level courses for professional learners [4] that are operationalized across severalsurvey questions delivered at different points (pre, immediate-post, one-month

An excerpt of this survey is shown inAppendix 5. The FE Survey, shown in Appendix 6, is administered immediately after thestudents have taken the FE Examination, and is designed to provide immediate feedback to thedepartment, as well as to service departments, regarding student perception of achievement onspecific topics of concern. Ofmajor concern are hiring, tenure, and promotion policies for the collection of graduate students,post-doctoral students and tenure-track faculty who are actively contributing to the scholarship ofengineering education.A critical element in the design of the Institutes is identifying the challenges and necessaryresources for supporting future leaders in engineering education. There is a broad research baseto draw from on faculty issues in higher education [1] and a growing number of studies on thecareer paths of Ph.D.’s [2]. As an example, there is a special issue of New Directions forInstitutional Research devoted to issues of evaluating faculty performance and the promotion

These keywords were judged based on the results of the searchesin these databases. If a keyword produced no results in at least two databases, the keyword was deleted. These searches also allowed for the addition of words such as, advocat*, student engag*, cooperat*,implement*, facult*, etc. A list of 43 selective and effective (meaning on which produces relevantresults) keywords was established. Some commentators note that using current cases is important, especially since ourstudents, on the whole, are relatively young; they may lack the ability to relate to older cases. Ifindeed, as Czech novelist Milan Kundera suggests in his Book of Laughter and Forgetting, history is a process of forgetting [1], this argument makes sense. However, this author firmly believes that students can involve themselves intellectually andemotionally in historical cases, those older than 50 years, that there is valuable information to begleaned from those cases, and that is it possible to discern whether or not we learn from the past.To that end, this paper examines two historical cases: Triangle Shirtwaist Fire (1911) and theDonora

During the workshop, the department plan to invite guest speakers from the constructionindustry to explain to participants how the certification will benefit their future careers. By the end of theworkshop, all participants will have a better grasp of the exam's contents and be able to advance theircareers and increase their earning potential in the construction industry.Current and

lack of training is certainly a problem, it must also be recognized that trainingalone will not address the biases and personal agendas of heads, including gender biases.Calls for training should be more reflective and critical about the problems that training canaddress, and the ones that it cannot. The issues that emerged in our storytelling circles likelywould not have been ameliorated solely through further training.Training is typically conceived as having an impact on knowledge, skills, behaviors andattitudes50,51. Of these, only attitude may get at underlying values or beliefs behind biases;however, attitudes have been repeatedly found to be unstable (and thus not easily amenableto training) across contexts52. Additionally, training may

intersectionality of individuals can play a criticalrole in leveraging the assets of women and racial/ethnic minorities. For example, in immigrantfamilies often the English-speaking children take on the role of translators and engage in“brokering” with their parents or caregivers, a practice by which they interpret culture, language, and media to their parents to help them understand and to include them in the local community. This phenomenon is particularly common in Hispanic families, and Latina adolescents are themost likely to act as brokers. Engaging in this role improves their communication, problemsolving, and negotiation — all soft skills which are critical to success in computing fields[16, 78, 104]. Thus, when recruiting, and during hiring, it is

I have a costume background, I was costume mistress for [a] Ballet four years, so I knew that costumes had to be pleasing from a distance, beautiful or at least engaging.
