The beam was simply excited by a tap at aspecific point, and the beam vibration was detected by a piezoelectric accelerometer. Thevibration data was acquired and analyzed in the frequency domain. The course was taken byabout 120 students. The lab will be used in the Spring 2003 at Cornell and other schoolsincluding two-year and engineering technology programs. Students were given two weeks to complete the lab.
