Through this learning initiative, the faculty built the capacity to reflect and examineassumptions. We also believe that an important part of this experiment was the availability of thestudent community voice as feedback to the faculty.Students took between half and three-quarters of their course load with faculty who taught pre-existing general education courses. The difference for the students was that they took courseswith a cohort and that faculty attempted to integrate content across disciplines. First, we modeled the long-term effect ofour programming efforts on the percentage of females in the incoming residency class assumingthat we maintain our current level of programming indefinitely. We then adjusted selectparameters in the model to reflect “worst-case” assumptions for recruiting and retention inorthopaedic residency (see Table 2). arts majors, aswell as between the liberal arts and the areas of study leading to a major or profession.Our findings suggest that the learning objectives and the pedagogical approaches used in thecourse are adequate for a broad range of non-computer majors. Performance on writing andcomputing assessments as well as final grades (75% of students obtained a grade of C or better)indicated that a vast majority of students successfully achieved the learning objectives. Theseresults were consistent with student perceptions as reflected in an end-of-course survey. self-developed survey, followed by focus group interviewsof the students to reflect students’ attitudes toward classroom attendance and their learningefficacy under this innovative self-regulated learning. Three rounds of surveys wereconducted to examine students’ changes in attitude and preferences as well as theirperceptions of their learning efficiency. Based on students’ self-reports, the average rate ofphysical classroom attendance was 26%. More than 60% of the students preferred this“soft classroom” learning. In addition, they reported on how efficient this course was inresponse to this new learning environment. Mainly, how the traditional educational setting functions does notcater to how students with ADHD achieve success, nor do teachers have sufficient training andunderstanding of how ADHD affects learning and academic performance.8 In current educationsystems, students with ADHD are less engaged during instruction, display more off-task anddisruptive behavior, and are less academically motivated. There is a direct association betweenacademic achievement and attention during instruction, indicating that students with ADHD canhave more negative academic outcomes.8 This idea is reflected throughout college. While accuracy and precision are often usedinterchangeably, they have distinct meanings in the context of scientific measurements. Anaccurate measurement reflects the true value (possibly within an error range or degree ofconfidence), while a precise measurement is consistent and repeatable.14 It is possible for ameasurement to be highly accurate but not precise (repeatable), or to be very precise but notaccurate (reflecting the true value). theanalysis we focus on how these engineers reflect on their fit in each job and how they account fortheir decision to pursue a second term of internship or co-op at an organization or, alternately,how they decided not to return. We highlight the cases of three engineers who represent twodifferent experiences of young engineers: trying lots of internships as a student and finding agood fit before graduation versus trying one internship as a student and perceiving oneself as apoor fit for one’s job after graduation. We therefore use this analysis to examine the relationshipbetween undergraduate work experience, perceived fit in a work environment, andattrition/persistence in engineering.Analyses in this area are important to conduct because there is a
