this way allowsthe students to learn software tools that can be used in other courses and industry.BackgroundThe UHD Engineering Technology department has recently obtained more LabVIEW and VisualBasic software to further the development of all engineering and technology classes. Theelectrical power systems course exercises and projects have benefited from the acquisition of thissoftware. Furthermore, it is planned to also use other software packages in the electrical powersystem course in particular Intergraph Smart Plant Electrical software. The use of the SmartPlant Electrical software is planned for the upcoming fall semester. Note that the Smart PlantElectrical software is used by industry to design various aspects of electrical power

The e-stadium restaurant locator shown in Figure 2 allows users to search local restaurants by cuisine, restaurant name, city, or driving distance from Purdue's stadium. Each restaurant entry provides a business logo, address, telephone number, website URL, price guideline, driving distance from the stadium, and directions. For those football fans that have traveled to Purdue and plan on staying overnight, the e-Stadium application provides a hotel locator to help them

Cadets have theopportunity to attend an Advanced Individual Academic Development experience during asummer training period to see the real-world application of their discipline. These are popularbut voluntary limited summer internship programs primarily with Department of Defense (DoD)agencies. Finally, the integrative experience or capstone design courses provide cadets theforum to apply what they have learned in the program in solving a problem for a real DoD orindustry client. They integrate concepts learned through all their USMA experiences to providevaluable analysis and recommendations concerning an issue for a project client. TheEngineering

Most importantly, they worked on practical examples and exercises thatmade sense for them. In the process, they integrated multiple components into workingsystems. However, there were time constraints limiting abilities within certain areas andthis was the first attempt of teaching after the modifications were planned. With recentmodifications to the department’s curriculum, a lab session was added to increase thetime allocation on hands-on activities and the projects and to ease the pressure oninclusion of critical background information. With this change

In this paper, wedescribe the process by which we have modified the core curriculum and the results of theredesign. [This work was supported by NSF grant EEC- 0431812].Initial assessment activities associated with our legacy curriculum indicated several areas thatneeded to be strengthened. First, students rarely felt they understood the coherent, overarchingframework that integrates basic principles. Second, there was an unbalanced coverage offundamental areas of ECE. Finally, the laboratory and design

Missing is the formulation and execution of amaster plan run by a professional society and backed by practitioners, researchers, and academia.Components of an image enhancing master plan are identified below.Professionals now practicing environmental engineering who have roots in other engineeringdisciplines should stand behind environmental engineering as their primary discipline and stopviewing it as a sub-discipline or specialty area. Environmental engineering needs its ownidentity. We are planning to have up-to-date laboratories andassignments with engineering tasks which are not taught in other courses. One of our laboratoryassignment plans is to educate our undergraduate students in the programming softwareLabVIEW.We feel that LabVIEW is becoming very popular in the engineering field and it is a good idea tohave our students exposed to it.We have developed a laboratory assignment which is a reduced form of our data acquisitionsystem. Any written report withmore than two misspelled words, or grammatical errors, was given a failing grade.Students should be encouraged to participate in internships or co-op programs to get theflavor of the work environment. This will ease the transition. Associating with people intheir field (i.e., with fellow engineers) and the regimen of regular hours will also ease thetransition. This approach provides the supervisors with a better feel for the talents thegraduating students brings with them and how best plan their on the job training.
