at NAU and CQUPT.NAU faculty use the shortened semester duration to have additional time to arrange livingabroad, travel preparation, and organize courses for work in China within the 16-week NAUsemester timeframe.Within the twelve weeks, all course content is carried out while at CQUPT with the exception ofthe final exam. Overall, the percent of engineering students graduating in fouryears has increased from 7.3% for Fall 2013 freshmen to 17.4% for Fall 2015 freshmen, our firstcohort in this project. We surveyed all the engineering students scheduled to graduate either inSpring or Summer 2019 and asked them about their experiences at SJSU. This paper will discussthe results of a survey of the engineering students who graduated in four years and what helpedthem graduate in a timely manner. Education, 2013 iPads in the Engineering Classroom – Boon or Bane?Introduction As iPads and similar touch-screen devices continue to flood the market, engineeringprograms are seeking to integrate these platforms into student education. With total marketpenetration of perhaps 125 million iPads sold to date and nearly half a billion smartphones (allbrands) shipped in 2011 alone1 for a total of just over 1 billion smartphone users currentlyholding active accounts worldwide2, the transition to highly-mobile touch screen computing isupon us. Further, the Pew Internet and American Life Project estimates that 66% of thosebetween 18 and 29 years old own smartphones, with the likelihood of ownership increasing withhigher incomes3
