2016, Zaida became an ELATE@ Drexel (Executive Leadership in Academic Technology and Engineering) alumnus presenting an insti- tutional action project titled ”Raiders Abroad: A sustainable model for globally competent engineering students” that was adopted by the WCOE. The project, based on the work of cross functional teams estab- lished a strategic plan for 2016-2020 focusing on student participation and assessment on programs abroad and the development of a travel scholarship fund for students under financial hardship in the college. Mrs. Gracia brings twenty five years of experience as a mathematics’ professor at the Sacred Heart University in Puerto Rico. She led successful initiatives to increase minorities

. Theseoutcomes have been mapped to ten learning objectives common to all offerings of the course, which are included in the paper. To meet these educational outcomes, the programs are planned around multifaceted themesaccessible to all engineering majors, including: Transportation (UK); Water Resources(Argentina); Engineering in Ancient Lands (Italy, China); Engineering in Extreme Environments(Chile); and Energy and Sustainability (Switzerland/ Germany/France, Norway/Sweden, Brazil,Costa Rica, and New Zealand). Courses typically consist of a series of lectures, site visits andguest speakers arranged around the underlying technical theme. The paper provides examples ofcourse activities from some of these programs.Student requirements include daily class

to produce sample curricula that show how students can incorporate afall or spring semester abroad in a standard four-year, eight-semester graduation plan. Suchplans are constructed so as to not require additional summer study or application of AdvancedPlacement or International Baccalaureate credits. The process of creating these sample curricula is labor-intensive. Starting with the curricularrequirements at our institution for a specific major, noting prerequisite streams and limitations onwhen specific courses are offered, we then investigate the course offerings in that discipline aswell as in mathematics in one of the study abroad programs. Note is made of the general levelof each course and semester(s) offered. Courses that appear to

issues is to offer an online course. The number of onlinecourses offered in the US is increasing and US students generally find the learning experience tobe commensurate with traditional courses (US News, 2016; Babson, 2013). However, based onour interactions and planning for this program, Chinese students and universities do not have afavorable opinion of online courses. They generally view the courses as inferior to traditionalcourses.ENGR 5110 Effectiveness in Technical Organizations is a course that is only taught in an onlineformat at UC and it has been taught in an online format since 2008. This course was one ofseveral that fit in the curriculum as a technical elective for the program of study for students inthe program. Because faculty

eight forming components of theAfghanistan National Development Strategy (ANDS): 2008 -2013. The specific strategy forhigher education is described as follows (Babury & Hayward, 2014): “Improving the quantity and quality aspects to satisfy the demand for the market based economy with skilled professionals. This will involve increasing the capacity to accommodate more qualified students, together with an improvement in the quality of higher education by improving the number and quality of lecturers and offering a greater variety of courses. There are plans to provide universities with greater autonomy (p. 5).”In Afghanistan the way people can receive higher education falls into one of the following

The framework has presentation templates for both mid-semester and end-semester examinations.Clusters are free to seek written reports, demonstration of live performances, or allow use of native languages forsharing. The framework also identifies attributes of great learners such as questioning, networking, self-belief,and expects students to assess themselves on those attributes, and prepare and execute plans to become greatlearners.ExecutionAt the outset, the program director presented the framework to all faculty members and pursued them to enroll asmentors to different areas. The purpose was to rapidly develop an effective model forChina’s higher education system to train talents that were desperately needed by the country. Inthe spirit of China’s reform and opening policy, the Chinese central government approved a 5-year strategic plan from the Ministry of Education in 2004 that emphasized the importance offurther opening the education system and encouraging international cooperation as one of thekey strategies of China’s educational development. One year earlier, the State Council passed theRegulations of People’s Republic of China on Chinese-Foreign

However, they also reported to the instructor that, whilewriting in this style was difficult and unfamiliar to them, it was enjoyable.Of course, the instructors didn’t simply collect open-form essays and move on. Theseessays were meant to be considered alongside the argumentative, researched essayswritten earlier in the program. The instructors’ plans were for these essays, bothargumentative and creative, to be scaffolding for the video assignment that finished thetrip. The approaches, creative and expressive in the open-form essays, and formulaic andthesis-driven in the closed form, were meant to be complementary.E3 BlogStudents were required to create an
