This initial invitation from a senior professor instils a feelingof trustworthiness in the students and ensures that there is someone closer to them with moreprofessional and academic experience, and with whom they can speak freely about their academic as wellas other professional and personal problems.A checklist is maintained in a file called “Student Folder” for each student, and it is continually updatedafter each meeting with the mentor where the mentor makes sure that each student under her/hismentorship progresses smoothly in an ABET accredited curriculum. connect withone another and reflect on the information they have been exposed to throughout the day.As shown in fig. 6, the majority of teachers have already used, or are intending to use the activitykit provided. Some have even mentioned using activities from the website that were not part of thetrack they attended at the workshop but fit their classroom curriculum. There was a wide breadthin the ways teachers implemented their classroom kits. Some teachers mentioned they use theactivity as an introduction to a new concept, while others used them as hands on reinforcement ofa concept they had already taught in a traditional fashion. Teachers who used the kits mentionedthat they encouraged them to try new teaching strategies in their classrooms

ways that impact their educational experiences, and shapes the choices and thecareer pathways that they take. It is also clear from this literature, some of which is cited below,that those choices are not always entirely of their own choosing.In this paper, we wish to present some preliminary results from a pilot study on studentperspectives about engineering education, and how students navigate through their owneducational transformation. What we provide in the paper is an early analysis of interview datagained from student interviews, where undergraduate URP/REU students interviewed otherstudents about their educational experiences. Our initial analysis suggests that student pathwaysare determined in largely interactionist terms, namely
