. The French et al. studyworks on the odds ratio. None of the four studies has showed statistically significant differencein men’s retention, though. Three studies indicate higher retention for women19,18,46. Cohen’sstudy has showed statistically higher retention for women students. The studies that are in favorof men retention have considered the MIDFIELD database and NC university database; whilethe ones that are in favor of women retention have considered a national database (Engineeringworkforce commission- EWC) of 1999-2001 graduating students and a mid-Atlantic collegedatabase. These logistical challenges and intrinsic quality control issues inthe qualitative research paradigm may be partially addressed by recent state-of-the-artdevelopments in the NLP.Conclusion and Future Work This study publication was based on a research project that used a longitudinal qualitativeresearch methodology. The research site was an R1, Mid-Atlantic university. For the firstqualitative phase of the research project, in-depth semi-structured interviews were conductedwith 113 undergraduate students at the university - 41 students were from engineering majors,and 72 were outside of engineering majors. As we have explored the teamwork literature, we have identified that teamwork, as thediscipline has defined it, lacks specificity, thus leaving open the criterion for assessment. as wrong [7]. While one option may be to educate students onwhat is considered plagiarism in computer programming courses, such interventions have hadmixed effectiveness [5], [8]. In reality, plagiarism is likely to be a persisting problem incomputer programming courses. Given what we know about plagiarism in general, we will nowdescribe how it has affected the programming course at the center of this paper.Course Description The course described in this paper is a large (400-700 student), first-year programmingcourse at a large, land-grant university in the Mid-Atlantic United States. The programmingcourse teaches the MATLAB programming language, and focuses on the fundamentals ofcomputer programming for student learning objectives. The
