Peer-Assisted Learning (PAL), which providescollaboration and more structure 2.) drop-in tutoring, which incorporates a more flexibleenvironment with potential for one-on-one support, and 3.) the Southwest embarked on a study of how the introduction ofmetacognition and strategies on “learning how to learn” to engineering students could impacttheir performance in class. Our preliminary data indicates that 75% of freshmen, 50% ofsophomores, and 35% of juniors do not routinely adopt effective study strategies.
