for on-campus students: No significantdifferences have been noted in exit surveys before and after the change in lecture format. Only 2of the more than 225 students enrolled in the second circuits lab course suggested in the exitsurveys that physical lectures be re-instituted. This is not surprising as most students havealready completed the first LiaB- based lab course, a traditional in-class electronics course inwhich PSpice is used extensively, and an introductory course in computer engineering in whichthey are assigned five hands-on projects that are also completed outside of a classroom. The next phasesof the project will focus on the characterization of the polymer and study of drug release fromthe polymer. : homework completed after the due date butbefore the end of the module would earn 75% credit; homework completed after the module butbefore the end of the semester would earn 50% credit. The basis for this policy is that justbecause a student did not complete the homework on time does not mean the material is notimportant, and if they are able to eventually master the material, some credit will awarded.Schilling (2010) suggested that a bonus be given for early homework completion. The analogywas made to a construction project, where there are late penalties, but also bonuses for earlycompletion. Following this suggestion, a 10% bonus for homework completed more than 24hours before the due date was implemented halfway through the 2010 fall semester

, some of the colleges used computer-adaptive placement tests (e.g.,ACCUPLACER; COMPASS) to make developmental placement decisions, and some theMathematics Diagnostic Testing Project (MDTP), a math diagnostic developed by the Universityof California and California State University systems. This variation in test choice provided usthe opportunity to understand the potential benefits of using diagnostic information relative tocomputer-adaptive tests.
