However, after this period, due to the increase in "TechnologyEnhanced Learning" interventions, the trend for "PBRBIS" began to rise. Additionally, followingthe COVID-19 pandemic and the resumption of in-person classes, LSI interventions once againbegan to show an upward trend. Also, over the past 10 years, the majority of interventionspublished in the ASEE conference proceedings focused on improving and changing the learningstrategies of students in circuits rather than improving the motivation of students to learn

Because of the lower number ofstudents enrolled in these sections, it takes additional resources and we are considering if weshould offer it again. All offerings were presented in a flipped format, with numerous exampleproblems and lecture material offered in short videos for students to watch before class. The firstoffering was in Spring of 2019 – the winter quarter provides our largest number of students, typically 13-15 sections of approximately 32 students each. This first

Introducing students to engineering aligned with anideology that decontextualizes and separates the social from the technical makes studentsconceptualize the social as an afterthought or, worse, unnecessary (Erickson et al., 2020).Attempts at sociotechnical integration in engineering education are certainly not new. Neeley etal. (2019) used a text mining approach to chart the history of attempts at applying STS toengineering education, which often is enacted by adopting a sociotechnical approach toengineering education in the ASEE PEER repository. The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (2019) projected higher job growth for computationalroles (12%) compared to mechanical, electrical, and computer hardware engineering (4-6%).Reflecting this demand, computer science and computer engineering faculty emerged with thehighest salaries in academia, surpassing their engineering counterparts (ASEE, 2022).These disciplinary distinctions permeate beyond academic and professional spheres, influencingsocialization, enrollment, and persistence, and carrying significant implications forunderrepresented groups.
