The response rate was 50% (n = 133) over the sixsemesters (Spring, Summer, and Fall both years). Individual class sections ranged from 13 to 19students. The course is designated for engineering majors and the content is engineering-focused, but any major is allowed to enroll. The course evaluation questions and their formattingwere most recently revised in Fall 2018. Few prior studies have considered how curricular complexitycontributes to this extended time-to-degree for engineering transfers. In our previous work [6],we compared the most expedient pathways to graduation for 56 transfer pathways with 14 FTICpathways in engineering at Virginia Tech – including pathways as a result of curricular change inthe Electrical and Computer Engineering degree programs [10]. We found that, by design, 93%of FTIC pathways could be completed in 4 years (8 semesters) compared with only 11% oftransfer pathways across engineering disciplines.
