The survey course introduces the undergraduate student to various fields of engineeringthrough a main lecture and laboratory sections. The primary project in the university course isthe iterative design, test and build of a solar oven. This framework is foundational to the highschool version of ENGR 102.A core curriculum, including the solar oven project, excel training and design of experiment(DOE) activities are presented to high school students in much the same way as the universitycourse. In all cases, theseobjectives were not altered, either to increase or reduce content.Using lesson objectives as the guiding parameter, lesson restructuring followed a generallyconsistent pattern. The target is not really anRTOS, however, the method reveals that understanding the internal mechanism is the key tounderstand any operating system [8]. A focus on the networking aspect of the RTOS kernel wasexplained by teaching the CAN bus. The emphasis was to make clear the networking part of theRTOS [9]. Laboratories were developed for teaching RTOS. For example, a virtual machineenvironment was introduced to reduce the setup time [10].
