The MicroLogix has a comprehensiveinstruction set with 12 basic logic instructions, 43 applied control instructions, and 14 advancedapplication-specific instructions. Execution for a typical 500-instruction program is 1.56 ms. TheRSLogix software permits ladder logic programming (Figure 4) to regulate the PLC. Ladderdiagrams provide a graphical representation of the algorithm using two vertical lines attached byhorizontal lines, called rungs, which contain the logical operators.
