microfluidicswith plug-and-play capabilities can greatly increase the effectiveness of microfluidic systems.Such motherboards must have leak-free, quick, and reversible sealing methods. The reusability ofthe motherboard is also essential to its improved function. Additionally, modular microfluidicshave the potential to reduce the labor required for operating microfluidic systems.Figure 1: Schematic of modular microfluidics with the plug-and-play capability. In this paper, we present the course structure, student activities, and outcomes of an independentresearch course on microfluidics offered in the fall semester of 2022. Five students (first fiveauthors of this paper; the group hereafter) took the course and successfully completed their groupproject. The

answering the questions: Whatdoes previous research indicate about the experiences of student caregivers? and How does thatknowledge apply to recruiting and retaining undergraduate engineering students?A literature review on barriers and aids to CSt’ academic outcomes in the United States, which itsauthors believe to be the first literature review of the experiences of CSt, was published in 2022. Itfound barriers at the individual, interpersonal, institutional, and policy levels that hindered CSt,concluding that the challenges that CSt face are systemic. This project expands upon their workby (1) including studies outside of the United States and over a longer time frame, (2) trackingCSt’s areas of study, (3) exploring CSt’s assets, challenges, and

collected from undergraduate engineering students assigned to groups in thecomparison and treatment conditions from Fall 2019 to Fall 2022. Data was collectedelectronically through the CATME teammate evaluations and project reflections(treatment, n = 137; comparison, n = 112). CATME uses a series of questions assessed on a5-point Likert scale. Quantitative analysis using Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) and Covariance(ANCOVA) showed that engineering students in the treatment group expected more quality, were more satisfied, and had more task commitment than engineering students working withintheir discipline. However, no statistically significant differences were observed for teamworkeffectiveness categories such as contribution to the team’s work

Females are still largelyunderrepresented in the fields of STEM despite the large documented earnings gained fromholding STEM degrees [7].This study will discuss the factors that influence the levels of interest in the fields of STEMamong high school and middle school students. Data was reported from the results collectedduring five summer engineering camps held at a local university as part of the Department ofEducation’s Gaining Early Awareness and Readiness for Undergraduate Programs (GEARUP)program. The camps were intended to help increase interest in STEM careers and STEMpostsecondary education among middle and high school students. The weeklong summer campswere held in the years 2017, 2018, 2019, 2022, and 2023. Two years were skipped due

Over half of the articles reported theaccumulated assessment data from multi-training sites nationwide. The studied sample sizesvaried widely from 18 to 875 participants (Appendix 1). The largest sample size study comparedassessment outcomes between multi-year face-to-face and synchronous online training acrossmulti-sites [23]. The participants were mostly faculty, including clinical instructors, assistantprofessors, associate professors, and full professors. In addition, some studies focus on graduatestudents, as they served as mentors to undergraduate students and participated in mentor training. The
