Although this was a very smallsample to make any conclusive statement, according to the survey data, this experience wascertainly instrumental in attracting as well as preparing these ten engineers and researchers to thefields of manufacturing.References 1. However, it has been noted by the DOE AdvancedScientific Computing Advisory Committee (2) and others (3) (4) (5) that the DOE Laboratories faceworkforce development and recruitment challenges. Further complicating the matter is theunderrepresentation of women and minorities in high end computing. Disparities in representation andparticipation impede educational attainment and access to the Science and Technology (S&T) workforce. While underrepresentation and lack of diversity are noted generally across S&T fields, they are more 1pronounced in mathematical and computing sciences (6) (7) (8) (9). Statistically, women earnapproximately 40 percent of the undergraduate degrees in

Students also discussedwhat could have been done to avoid ethics violations and what they may have done differently.Students were given an opportunity to develop their own discussion questions for the classdiscussion, but the following example discussion questions are provided: 1. What was the main event or action that caused this situation? 2. How do you think a civil engineer was involved? 3. What potentially did the civil engineer fail to do? 4. Does a civil engineer have the responsibly to do something for this situation? Explain. 5. What actions from those involved could have prevented the

Consciousness Competency. In the United States entrepreneurial training was starting toget introduced across colleges and universities in the 1970’s. Since then entrepreneurshipeducation and training programs have expanded and been adopted in several more college anduniversity curricula in recent years. It is estimated that 80% of all U.S. colleges and universitiesat present implement such programs [3]. Entrepreneurship for most of the students is a newexperience. The benefits it offers includes the opportunity to acquire new skills and experience, access to knowledge and tools related to establishing and operating companies, decision makingand negotiations, project management and team working and bearing consequences of undesiredoutcomes. industry. Dominant first year engineering programs create team-based fundamental engineering courses to develop students’ ability to work in a team. Thenumber of foreign students studying at American higher educational institutions is consistentlyincreasing and they possess unique cultures influencing the study and experience of domesticstudents. In this study, we focus on teamwork and peer assessment behaviors of multi-culturalteams as compared to domestic [U.S.] teams in a large Midwestern first year engineeringprogram. Our research question is: do teams containing one or more international student(s)have, on average, different peer rating behaviors from teams containing only domestic students? We find significant peer evaluation differences in

moreholistic design paradigm. Engineering design itself is described as “a creative decision-makingprocess that aims to find an optimal balance of trade-offs in the production of an artifact that bestsatisfies customer and other stakeholder preferences” [1]. Sustainable design only requires thatsustainability principles be incorporated into this complex decision-making process to promoteconsideration of and balance between the economic, environmental, and social systems duringproject development [2]. Describing this innovative approach to design, Skerlos et.al.
